- 3D, drones
“I never think about the future, it always comes so soon.”
This famous quote from Albert Einstein could not be more suitable.
It seems only yesterday that the mankind has created the first rudimentary machines, and today the advances in technology are more and more amazing.
We are almost entered in the age of drones, where these small but sophisticated devices are appearing in our routine, helping not a little the man’s work and, why not, entertaining him.
Since sometime, researchers at Zurich’s Polytechnic are working on the creation of an intelligent drone. But why this prototype is so special? This small aircraft will be able not only to overcome the obstacles autonomously and plan their movements, but also to accurately map the surrounding space, this just with a minimum and initial help from man. Currently the team is working on a system to prevent the drone collide with moving objects or that don’t appear in the 3D map.
Innovations certainly interesting for those minutes machinery that, in addition to helping in the inspections of oil rigs or in the crops, will also be useful in our daily lives, working for example in delivery’s services, with deliveries in record time!
Of course, these innovations are still at the beginning, but gradually the experiments give increasingly positive results.
Meanwhile, the USA hotel industry is intent to exploit these new technologies to offer an attractive service to fans of skiing and mountain biking. There will be the opportunity to be filmed by a drone, specially located in the most fascinating way, and later obtain a videoclip mounted by experts.
Who knows if the time of the filming of “Back to the Future” they would never expected such scientific revolutions?
